Rape in an Asheville, N.C., Hotel

In a somewhat different type of abuse case, Seth Langson represented a female executive who was raped in her hotel room by an unidentified assailant.

It was believed that the rapist gained entry through the doors to an adjoining room that did not properly lock, but since the attacker was never caught, it was impossible to prove his exact mode of entry. Suit was brought against the hotel in Asheville and the national hotel chain for negligent security.

Seth did extensive investigation into the crime rates and crime patterns in the surrounding area and hired a nationally recognized security expert. After extensive discovery and depositions, the suit was settled.
