This weekend the Charlotte Diocese finally got around to announcing that one of it’s Priests, Father John Schneider, plead guilty in connection with his role in the Paul Berrell scandal. He destroyed pornographic images from the computer of Paul Berrell a music teacher who was employed by the Charlotte Diocese in Asheville. Mr Berrell already plead guilty to producing child pornography and received a sentence of 28 years in prison. The victim in question was 13 when Berrell was arrested in 2009.
However, Father Schneider’s guilty plea was entered back on June 30th? So why no news of it until now? Was the Diocese hoping that no one would notice the criminal behavior of another of its priests or make the connection to the heinous crimes of Paul Berrell?
