While Penn State serves as the paradigm for how not to handle reports of child sex abuse, we should offer kudos to Debbie Yow, the athletic director of N.C. State. She’s made it university policy to ask “athletes to anonymously complete a thorough survey that includes a question asking whether an athletic staff member ever engaged in inappropriate contact.” By taking the initiative, she has helped protect children and made the world a better place.
